The first Publishing Feminisms Symposium was held from May 17-20, 2015, at the Banff Centre for the Arts. Organized by Michelle Meagher (U of Alberta) and Tessa Jordan (BCIT), the goal of this symposium was to bring together a broad range of scholars and practitioners in order to explore the relationships between feminist print culture – feminist presses, periodicals, glossies, zines, independent and the production and distribution mechanisms through which they are supported – and post 1960 feminisms.

Participants included junior, mid-career, and senior scholars from universities in Canada and the United States, graduate students, librarians, archivists, artists, and representatives from several feminist periodicals, including The Feminist Wire, TRIVIA, femspec, feral feminisms, GUTS, and off our backs.
